Google's footnote: the introductory price expires on December 31, 2026, and from January 1, 2027 Gemini 3.8 Flash costs $1.50 per million input tokens and $7.50 per million output tokens.[1][2]
Google's price list counts thinking tokens in the output price, so a reply that reasons at length pays the output rate for that reasoning too.[2]
The introductory price is the same as Gemini 3.7 Flash's, which Google released three weeks before 3.8 Flash.[1]
Google calls 3.8 Flash its most intelligent workhorse model, with gains over 3.7 Flash in software engineering, agentic tasks and multi-step reasoning.[1]
Google notes that 3.8 Flash can use more tokens on complex tasks, especially at higher effort levels, and keeps Gemini 3.7 Flash supported for work where efficiency comes first.[1]
In Google's own apps, 3.8 Flash is for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, in the Gemini app, AI Mode in Search and Gemini in Google Sheets.[1]
A sibling model, Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber, is only for vetted security teams, through Google's Fairwind Program.[1]
