AI usage limits, explained: what each $20 plan tells you
The biggest $20 AI plans use limits that vary with how you use them. Here's what the sources say about ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro, Google AI Pro and Perplexity Pro, with dates, alongside llmwise's published counts.

Short answer
As of September 25, 2026, none of ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro or Google AI Pro publishes a fixed message count for its best models, and some Perplexity promotional accounts faced cuts in May. llmwise publishes one for every model: on Pro, up to 31 Claude Fable 5.1 or GPT-6 Astra messages a month, 125 on Gemini 3.1 Pro.

Claude Pro usage limits
Anthropic's plans, in one sentence each, with the pages that say so.
Anthropic publishes no fixed message count for Claude Pro: usage is measured in 5-hour sessions, with a weekly cap on top.

Claude Pro doesn't include Claude Fable 5.1 in its usage limits: since July 20, 2026, Pro subscribers pay for Fable 5 and Fable 5.1 separately, from the first message.

Claude Max includes Fable 5 and Fable 5.1, but they can use at most 50% of Max's weekly limits.

In practice you learn your limit by reaching it, then wait for the session, or the week, to reset. Fable is the exception on Pro: it isn't in the limits at all, and costs extra from the first message. More on that in Is Claude Fable 5.1 included in Claude Pro?

ChatGPT Plus usage limits
OpenAI's limits for GPT-6 on Plus, with the pages that say so.
In Work and Codex, OpenAI estimates 5–45 local GPT-6 Astra messages every 5 hours on Plus, and says these aren't fixed limits and weekly limits may also apply.

GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, which OpenAI launched on September 22, 2026, aren't yet available in ChatGPT's Chat mode.

Google AI Pro (Gemini) usage limits
Google's limits for Gemini on Google AI Pro, in Google's words.
Since May 17, 2026, Google AI Pro has used compute-based limits that, in Google's words, “factor in the complexity of your prompt, the features you use, and the length of your chat”, and Google publishes no message count for them.

So a long chat, a big file or a heavier feature uses more of the limit, and Google doesn't say how much more.
Perplexity Pro usage limits
What changed on Perplexity Pro this year.
In May 2026, some Perplexity Pro subscribers reported lower advanced-model limits; Perplexity attributed changes on affected promotional accounts to fraud and unauthorized code resale.

Free is a one-time trial shared by the models marked. A paid plan's monthly counts come from one allowance, so each is the most you get if all of it goes to that model; the daily counts are separate. How pricing works has every rule.
Every limit is published. Paid plans also have a monthly fair-use limit on AI cost: Pro $7.50, Max $20, Ultra $42, Studio $85. Using every message on your plan at typical sizes stays under it; very large messages and heavy research use it faster. Every limit, explained.

Everyday models (GPT-6 Luna, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, and GLM 5.3 Flash) have their own daily count: 60 messages a day on Pro, refilled at 00:00 UTC.
A soft cap of 100 replies an hour, on every plan.
A reply can be up to 8,000 tokens on Pro and 16,000 on Max and up; at the limit it stops and offers Continue.
Long chats: once the conversation sent to the model passes 64k tokens, each reply counts as 2; past 128k, as 4; past 200k the chat is full. The message box says so before you send.
No 5-hour sessions and no weekly caps.

Where llmwise gives you less
Fewer messages on any one model than its maker's own plan is likely to give a heavy user of just that model. llmwise is one plan for every model, not the most of one.
Unused messages don't carry over to the next month.
On a paid plan, each web search counts as one more message of the model in use, and research reports and images have prices of their own.
The fair-use limit on each month's AI cost ($7.50 on Pro): at 100% of it, every message pauses until the plan renews or you buy a $10 top-up.

How many messages do you get on Claude Pro?
Anthropic doesn't publish one, as of September 25, 2026: according to its Help Center, Pro's usage is measured in 5-hour sessions with a weekly cap on top. Any fixed number you see elsewhere is someone's estimate.
How many GPT-6 Astra messages do you get on ChatGPT Plus?
In Work and Codex, OpenAI estimates 5–45 local Astra messages every 5 hours on Plus (as of September 25, 2026). Astra isn't in ChatGPT's regular chat on Plus.
What are Google AI Pro's usage limits?

Why can llmwise publish its limits?
