Short answer
Claude Free costs nothing and includes Sonnet and Haiku, not Opus or Fable. Anthropic publishes no count: Free "covers everyday questions", limits reset every five hours, and Pro gives at least 5x more per session. llmwise Free is a 5-message trial; Pro has up to 125 Claude Sonnet 5 messages a month.

Yes. Free has Sonnet, Claude's everyday model, with web search, files and connectors.
Long documents and long chats
It runs out: limits reset every five hours, and Anthropic sizes Pro at 5x Free per session.

How many messages does Claude Free give?
No count is published (checked September 28, 2026). Anthropic's pricing page says every plan's limits reset on a rolling five-hour window and that Pro gives at least 5x Free's usage per session.
Which Claude models are free?
Anthropic's plan table shows Sonnet and Haiku on Free, and no Opus; its help center says Fable 5 isn't available on the Free plan. Opus comes with Pro, and Fable with Max.
Is there a free Claude plan for students?
Anthropic says it doesn't offer standard discounted pricing on paid plans; universities can buy its Education plan for students. The free plan is the same for everyone.
