In short: on Claude Pro every Fable answer costs extra, on top of the $20 a month; on Claude Max it's included but capped; and neither plan tells you in advance how many messages you get.
Claude Fable 5.1 in llmwise, plan by plan

Prices don't include tax, which is added where it applies and shown before you pay. A paid plan's month is one allowance shared by every model, so each monthly count is the most you get if all of it goes to that model. Every limit is published. Paid plans also have a monthly fair-use limit on AI cost: Pro $7.50, Max $20, Ultra $42, Studio $85. Using every message on your plan at typical sizes stays under it; very large messages and heavy research use it faster. Every limit, explained.
Fable shares each plan's monthly allowance with the other models, so on Pro it's up to 31 Fable 5.1 messages, or 62 on Claude Opus 5.5, or 125 on Claude Sonnet 5, or any mix of them.
On a paid plan, a $10 top-up (+ applicable tax, shown before you pay) adds up to 25 more Fable messages, and lasts 12 months.
In a long chat, each Fable reply counts as 2 Fable messages once the conversation passes 64k tokens, and as 4 past 128k. The message box says so before you send, and a chat stops at 200k.
Free is a one-time trial of 5 messages, on every model but Claude Fable 5.1, Claude Opus 5.5, and GPT-6 Astra: try Claude Sonnet 5 there, then move to Pro for Fable.

The cheapest way to use Claude Fable 5.1
It depends on how often you need it, and whether you'd rather write code or chat.
A few answers a month, and you can code
Anthropic's own API, at $10.00 in and $50.00 out per million tokens: about $0.0750 for a typical message of 4,000 tokens in and 700 out. Cheapest by far if you write code to call it; it comes with no chat app.
Fable most days, and only Claude
Claude Max includes Fable, capped at half of Max's weekly limits. Anthropic doesn't say how many messages that is, so you find out by using it.
Fable sometimes, plus everything else
llmwise Pro, $20 a month: up to 31 Fable 5.1 messages, or a mix with Claude Opus 5.5 and Claude Sonnet 5, plus GPT-6 Astra, Gemini 3.1 Pro (preview) and 60 everyday messages a day.

How Fable in llmwise differs from Fable in Claude's app
In llmwise, a message to Claude goes to its maker, Anthropic, or through OpenRouter when llmwise can't reach the maker directly. It's the same Claude Fable 5.1, not a smaller copy.
It thinks before it answers (adaptive thinking) at medium effort, and a reply can be up to 8,000 tokens on Pro and 16,000 on Max and up; at the limit it stops and offers Continue.
Anthropic's safety system can pass a Fable message to another Claude model. When it does, the reply names the model that answered and says what you were charged for.

When Fable 5.1 is worth it, and when Opus 5.5 or Sonnet 5 will do
Fable is Anthropic's model for the hardest problems, and it costs the most: on Pro, 31 Fable messages take the same share of the month as 62 on Claude Opus 5.5 or 125 on Claude Sonnet 5. A common pattern is to work through a problem with Claude Sonnet 5, then switch to Fable in the same chat for the answer that matters. The next model sees the whole conversation.
