• Give it the facts

• No invented details

  Anything the draft needed and you didn't say (a name, a date) should come back in [square brackets], not made up. Fill those in before you send.

• The ask comes early

  The reader should know what you want from them by the end of the second sentence: a reply, a date, a payment, a yes.

• It sounds like you

  Read it aloud once. If a sentence sounds like nobody you know, cut it or say it the way you would.
